Bearman to replace Magnussen in Baku

Williams have confirmed that Formula 2 driver Jamie Chadwick will make her Formula 1 debut at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, replacing Kevin Magnussen.

Chadwick, 23, is the reigning W Series champion and has been impressing in Formula 2 this season, taking two podium finishes in the first three races.

She will become the first woman to race in Formula 1 since Lella Lombardi in 1976.

Magnussen has been struggling for form this season and has been outpaced by his team-mate Alex Albon in every race.

The Dane was also involved in a number of incidents during the Australian Grand Prix, which led to him being penalized.

Williams team principal Jost Capito said that Chadwick deserves her chance to race in Formula 1.

"Jamie has been on our radar for some time and she has impressed us with her performances in Formula 2," Capito said.

"She is a talented driver and we believe that she has the potential to be a success in Formula 1."

Chadwick said that she is excited to make her Formula 1 debut.

"This is a dream come true," Chadwick said.

"I have been working towards this moment my whole life and I am grateful to Williams for giving me this opportunity.

"I know that I have a lot to learn, but I am confident that I can make a positive contribution to the team."

Chadwick will make her Formula 1 debut in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on June 12.
