Damaging winds to 90 km/h possible for Windsor, Chatham-Kent, Sarnia, Strathroy, and London

A line of severe thunderstorms is expected to impact southwest Ontario this Wednesday evening, bringing with it the risk of damaging wind gusts, heavy rain, and hail. The storms are expected to develop in the late afternoon and evening hours, and could impact areas including Windsor, Chatham-Kent, Sarnia, Strathroy, and London.

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the region, and is urging residents to be prepared for the possibility of severe weather.

The storms are expected to bring with them wind gusts of up to 90 km/h, which could cause damage to trees, power lines, and property. Heavy rain is also possible, with rainfall amounts of 20 to 40 mm expected in some areas. There is also the risk of hail, although the size of the hail is not expected to be significant.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to take precautions to stay safe during the storms. This includes staying indoors if possible, and avoiding areas with trees or power lines. If you are caught outside during the storms, seek shelter in a sturdy building or vehicle.

Residents should also be prepared for the possibility of power outages. If your power goes out, please contact your local utility company to report the outage.

  • Stay indoors if possible.
  • Avoid areas with trees or power lines.
  • If you are caught outside, seek shelter in a sturdy building or vehicle.
  • Be aware of your surroundings and listen for weather updates.
